Artist Xenia Obukhowski was born in 1994 in Moscow. In her works, Xenia explores issues of identity, gender, physicality and sociality through hyperreal agender images, featuring terrestrial and unearthly species.
Images that are inspired by sci-fi, manga, and pop culture are placed in countries without geographical reference and on planets where the borders between fiction, reality, and digital information don’t exist.
Through her work, Xenia studies the relationship between internal and external, reality, and fiction. Through painting, sculpture and new media, Xenia explores issues surrounding identity, gender, sexuality and society, focusing on their transformation in the post-digital future.
